VPS 9 revisited

So last night got a real surprise at FreeVPS when the owner of GalaxyHostPlus indicated that he would be giving us more time on our VPSs.  This meant that I could continue my occupancy of VPS 9, although it was uncertain until exactly when.  Doesn’t matter though as I love this VPS.  JanuszC provided me with the full spectrum of Operating Systems in Virtualizor today as prior to that only Ubuntu had been available in the control panel.  Once I’d reinstalled CentOS 6 minimal I was up and running within minutes.  I hadn’t moved the domain of VPS 9 – so there was no need to find another domain.  All I needed to do was to install VestaCP and a WordPress installation from the command line and I was up and running almost immediately.  I’m going to use the opportunity to test a few things that is difficult to do with my HostUS VPS where the collateral damage may be much higher because I have so many sites installed on it.

What was a real surprise to me was the result of the speed test, as when I set up the speed test on VPS 9, I also thought to do one for my HostUS VPS so as to compare the two – and this was the result:

HostUS London Location

VPS German Location

Goes to show what a huge difference latency makes in speed and performance.  Performance of VPS 9 is as great as ever however.  Specs are huge.
