phpBB revisited

This morning had some time available while I was waiting for our cable technician to arrive.  I thought of using Softaculous to install phpBB and see whether that may be a better proposition for a Forum.  The installation with Softaculous went like a dream, particularly when I remembered how long installations used to take with phpBB in the very old days around 2010 plus.  Themes are just as easy to install – took a bit longer to figure through some of the details, but didn’t feel severely challenged by it.  Only thing is when it came to the plugins, they felt really old and far behind the plugins that are available with myBB.  There is no comparison.  So although I enjoyed going down memory lane with working with phpBB this morning, decided that myBB was still the better Forum script.
