WordPress 6.0 – no way!

So yes, another change that came my way was a very big upgrade from WordPress 5.something to WordPress 6.0. We’ve come a long long way with WordPress! Fortunately it didn’t impact my backups of dhsites.net at all.  Thank you WordPress!

There were some very minor hickups while installing my WordPress.  The installation script worked well with Debian, however VestaCP wouldn’t allow me to get the WordPress installation page by just using my domain URL only.  I had to search for the installation URL and use it in full.

Installation went the same as always. I was initially worried what to expect with WordPress 6.0, but thankfully it still provided the trusted Classic Editor Plugin, with which one can opt out of the new 6.0 Editor.

Another minor issue was that the Website came up with the VestaCP welcome page.  So easy to remedy by deleting the Welcome.html page.  Usually WordPress installation took care of this, but easy to remedy however.

Next challenge was to see whether the WordPress plugin for loading my backups was still free and the extension still usable.  I’m using the All-in-One-WP-Migration Tool plugin with its important Extension plugin.  So was most relieved when the plugin was still easy to download and free.  I was also able to update the plugin extension which I had to upload from my computer with no effort.  Once installed, it was a piece of cake to upload and install my backup.   I was immediately able to update all of the plugins and themes, and to create a brand new backup.  WordPress is still alive and well, and I’m still able to manage it.

I’m very curious about the new 6.0 Editor however will leave this for a project for later.  Kurt Biglione of WPApprentice.com will no doubt have plenty of notes on it.  I signed up for his courses a few years back, and one of the perks for paying for it was a life time membership.  More about this later.
